NAOqi OS
NAO and Pepper run on NAOqi OS, a Unix-based proprietary operating system. The NAOqi framework provides a programming base for developing the robot software. It meets the usual requirements for robots: parallelism. Resource management, synchronization, etc.
Several SDKs are provided for developing software for NAO and Pepper.
We provide API with:
Low-level methods that allow reading sensors and precise control of all motors.
High-level methods that allow access to many services, such as face recognition, obstacle avoidance, or voice synthesis.
Other Standard
Languages Some of our certified partners also develop visual ones
Programming interfaces based on Blockly or Scratch to
easily program NAO and Pepper.
Support
Aldebaran offers a range of information on frequently asked questions, documentation and tutorials adapted to your needs and knowledge. They are intended to support you in gaining experience with NAO and Pepper.
GENERAL NOTES ABOUT LI-ION BATTERIES
It is recommended to keep the battery level between 30% and 70~80%. If the battery charge level is outside of this range for an extended period of time, the battery ages faster.
Once the battery is fully charged (100% state of charge), you should not leave it on the charger for too long. Keeping a battery at 100% for an extended period of time accelerates battery aging.
It is recommended to recharge the battery immediately after use. Keeping a battery below 30% for a long period of time accelerates battery aging and battery self-consumption can irreversibly damage the battery as it can reach a deeply discharged state.
For longer storage when the NAO is not used for a long period of time:
Even when the battery is not used, internal consumption takes place in the battery and in the robot (when the battery is still in the robot). This chemical reaction coupled to the cells leads to a natural discharge of the battery. In order to avoid deep discharge, it is therefore recommended to charge the battery regularly:
Please charge stored batteries at least every 2 months.
